The September Book Sale was a Success!

With eighty percent chance of rain and thunderstorms in the forecast, we moved our Saturday, September 6, book sale to the TD Bank enclosed parking deck. We set up tables and signs Friday evening, after the bank closed. Six-thirty in the morning, members of the Friends board and other volunteers lined up vans, trucks and trailers to receive the over 900 boxes that GHS Boys Soccer, Key Club, Youth Services Action Group, and Friends unloaded at the bank. Thanks to this invaluable help, we opened on time at nine, to a huge crowd, and were busy throughout the day. The Key Club and YSAG volunteered throughout the day. GHS Girls Soccer returned at closing to load cars and vans for return to the library.

Proceeds for the day were $20,835. These funds will be used to benefit the library as needed.

Thanks to GHS the Boys and Girls Soccer, Key Club, and YSAG, for their community support. A special thanks to Francine Smith Vice President, Store Manager, TD Bank for making the enclosed parking deck available.  It did rain throughout the day. Without this alternate site, the sale would have been cancelled. Thanks to Wali Archard, of Panera Bread; Christina  Menesello of Patty Cakes Bakery, and Tom Brazel and Jason Frey of Dunkin Donuts for providing refreshments for our volunteers. Thanks to New England Black Top for lending needed equipment... We thank all for the wonderful book donations, those who purchased books, and Glastonbury Citizen, Glastonbury Life, and Reminder for publicity.

A special thanks to our hard- working and dedicated book sale committee, who sort, price, and pack, throughout the year, and Library Director Barbara Bailey and her staff for their support.

Please hold all donations October 6,
